Please informed that for some circuits, it is almost impossible to go in by yourself. They will require you to rent the entire track or part of the tracks. As each circuit have their own payment system, only the cheapest rental fees are listed here. As this article is for a foreigner, we try to include all the fees require someone who just came to Japan and wants to experience driving in these circuits

As the fees system is inconsistent, is it highly advisable to go to their website and check the fees by yourself if they require any additional fees.

*please note that all the price listed is only for cars. Rental rates for bicycles, motorbikes, and karts are usually cheaper

1. Asan Circuit

The Asana Circuit is one of the most unique circuits in Japan. It is one of the few circuits that is built to mimic the downhill roads on a mountain. If you are a fan of the Intial’D series, this will be the mountain road that you will be very familiar with.


2. Autoland Tsukede

Autoland Tsukede is the perhaps the second smallest circuit in Japan with the length of 700m, second to Kunitomi Car Land (600m). Autoland Tsukede will be what I consider as an immersion circuit. Surrounded by tall trees along the track, once you started driving, you will be fully immersed on the track without a sense of the “outside world”.

3. Autopolis

The Autopolis is an international circuit located at Oita prefecture, Japan.

The circuit has two race tracks. The main track and also the international race track is 4,674m long with 18 corners. The other track is 1,430m long with 9 corners.

Built back in 1990 by a Japanese man named Tomonori Tsurumaki, it has since changed hands several times after his bankruptcy in 1993.

Currently, Autopolis host major events such as the Formula D Japan, Super Formula, and Super Taikyu.

4. Central Circuit

The Central circuit is located at Taka District at Hyogo Japan. This circuit is mainly for private renting and occasionally for used Go Karts. In term of the environment, this circuit is surrounded by many small mountains and around mountain edges.

Thus, driving is this circuit will actually feel really comfortable – Great for people who love a great view.

5. Kota Circuit YRP Kiriyama

The Circuit Kota YRP Kiriyama is located at Aichi Prefecture. Based on the look of the circuit, you can tell straight that this is the course perfect for drifting. Surrounded by small hills and trees, it’s one of the best track for people who do not like the feeling of being “trapped”.

6. Ebisu Circuit

The Ebisu circuit requires little to no introduction. Located at Fukushima Prefecture, this circuit has up to seven race tracks and is famous for hosting world famous events such as D1 Grand Prix and Formula Drift Japan.

Recently, Ebisu circuit has been very populated by foreigners looking to drift at the very same place as the professionals drifted at. This is especially true during the Summer and Winter festivals. And what makes Ebisu unique is, foreigners who owns a car in Japan can actually park their car at Ebisu Circuit for as little as 5,000 Yen per month.

7. Fuji International Speedway

The Fuji International Speedway is another circuit that requires little to no introduction. It is one of the few international circuits in Japan. It also featured in many games and television programs.

Since this circuit is not far from Tokyo, there are a lot of events being held here. For example, our parent company – UP Garage, held a company drift event here in Fuji Speedway!

If you have a chance, it is highly recommended to watch a race in Fuji Speedway as it provides an extraordinary, one in the life time thrilling experience.

8. Gondo Charolais

This is a “Circuit” little known at Kumamoto Prefecture. There is so little information about it that you can only find some photo or video about it on the internet.

What we do know is this – it is used for offroad race track.

9. Gunma Circuit Sport Center

The Gunma circuit is a famous circuit among amateur drifters in Japan.

Unlike other tracks, the Guma tracks is a challenging track to tackle. The course is literally situated within a mountain, going downhill, surrounded by tall trees within a forest with lots of sharp corners.

This means it is really difficult to get a clear view of the next corner and a mistake could be fatal. This is definitely the must experience track for enthusiastic drifters

10. Honjyo Circuit

Located at Saitama Prefecture, the Honjyo circuit is a mini circuit with a clear view ahead surrounded by small hills. Is a place which you can enjoy some drifting.

11. HSR Circuit Kyushu

Situated at Kumamoto Prefecture, the HSR Circuit Kyushu is the perfect track for racer starting out or for anyone who wants to try racing. The track has good visibility as its built on a flat land with big corners for beginners.

12. Kunitomi Car Land

Located at Miyazaki Prefecture, the Kunitomi Car Land is designed for drifting. Despite being a 600m it has 10 corners in total. Meaning, on average, there is a corner every 60 m!

Unfortunately, this circuit is so small, it doesn’t even have a website, thus no information regarding the rental cost can be found.

13. Maze Sea Circuit

The Maze Sea Circuit, located at Niigata Prefecture is a beautiful track surrounded by small mountains. Despite being so, driving on the track gives you a clear view of the road in front, providing you with plenty of time on how to tackle the next corner.

14 Meihan Sportland

The Meihan Sportland located at Nara Prefecture has four different race courses ranging from 700m to 860m. All of them are track perfect for people who love drifting.

15. Mihama Circuit Kunimoto

The Mihami Circuit Kunimoto is a circuit located at Aichi Prefecture. Short circuit with big corners, this racetrack is perfect those who love “normal” races.

16. Minami Chiba Circuit

Minami Chiba Circuit is located at Chiba Prefecture. Built for drifting and at 1,100m long, it’s a circuit with lots of sharp corners. The circuit is surrounded by big bush and some trees.

17. Motor land Mikawa

The motor Land Mikawa is located at Aichi Prefecture, far from the nearest city. Surrounded by tall trees, this circuit is a perfect place for drifters who being surrounded by nature.

18. Motorland Suzuka

The Motorland Suzuka circuit is special in a way that the race track is literally shaped literally like a “U”. Located at Suzuka, Mie Prefecture is a not a place unknown to most foreigners. The track has a really beautiful environment with lots of tree around while still retain visibility most of the track.

19. Nadasaki Lakeside Park

The Nadasaki Lakeside Park is located at Okayama Prefecture. Don’t be fool by the name of this circuit as it’s neither a park nor at the lakeside. However, this is probably one of the interesting circuits out there as it’s located beside a river.

20. Nakayama Circuit

The Nakayama circuit is located in the middle of the mountains at the Okayama Prefecture. Despite not having any major events, it has a pretty good track. Definitely, a must go circuit for those who love driving at mountainous terrain while being surrounded by nature.

21. New Chitose Motor Land

Located at Hokkaido, the New Chitose Motor Land two unqiue points. One of them is this circuit is literally located beside an airport. Secondly, it has a dirt course. So, foreigners who are looking for a dirt track in Hokkaido, this is definitely the circuit to go to.

22. Nikko Circuit

The Nikko Circuit has a relatively long race track at 1,034 with beautiful mountainous scenery surrounding the course. This track is especially popular in Japan for drifting. The reason for this is that every part of this track can be used for drifting. Thus making this track “Drift Savvy”. Not only that, this track is only around two hours drive from Tokyo!

23. Nukabira ? (糠平湖氷上タイムトライアル)

Among all the course featured here so far, this is perhaps the most unique racecourse in Japan. Why? Because this circuit is only opened on winter and it is literally a racecourse above a frozen lake!

There is so little information about this “circuit” that I can’t even find the proper spelling for the English name, hence the question mark on the title.

So car enthusiast who likes to take on a slightly different challenge, this might be the circuit for you.

24. Off-Road Gandoko

Looking for an offroad or Rally action in Japan, then this Off-Road Gandoko Circuit might be one you have been looking for. Located at Iwate Prefecture, beside Lake Gandoka (hence the name), this circuit is one of the few offroad circuit in Japan.

25. Okayama International Circuit

Okayama International Circuit is the longest circuit in Okayama. Located at Okayama Prefecture, this circuit is famous for hosting the Super GT.

26. Okegawa Sport Land

Unlike the other circuit introduce until now, the Okegawa Sport Land is a circuit mainly for motorbikes. Located at Saitama Prefecture, this circuit is perfect those who are currently staying at Tokyo. One of the unique point about this track it, since it’s really small, it’s perfect for beginners who are just learning how to drift to drive on a race track.

However, it seems like this circuit is not longer able to be used for cars, and is currently only available for motorbikes.

27. Okuibuki Motor Park Street

The Okuibuki Motor Park Street is a very interesting circuit located at a high elevation at the Shiga Prefecture. The Motor Park Street is actually only part of the facility here. Other facilities include a cottage area, a park where you can stay and BBQ, a camping facility and skiing facilities.

This circuit also allows rental at night, giving those who always wanted to drift in the dark a chance to do so. The Okuibuki Motor Park Street also host events such as the Formula Drift Japan.

28. Sanage Adventure Field

The Sanage Adventure Field. is the place to go for learning off-roading, off-roading, camping and BBQ. Located near Aichi Prefecture, this course is not far from the Nagoya City. Compared to the off-roading introduced earlier, this brings more of a off-roading compared the earlier mentioned course.

29. Sodegaura Forest Raceway

31. Speed Park Konoura

35. Suzuka Circuit

The Suzuka Circuit requires little introduction.

In fact, many of you might have even visited the Suzuka Circuit before – virtually. Suzuka Circuit is one of the circuit commonly appeared in racing games.

When you speak of Japanese circuits to Japanese, Suzuka Circuit will probably comes in mind, as it’s one of the few international circuits in Japan. And it is also one of the circuits that give out the impression that it is a track that is difficult to be mastered.

Unlike other circuits, it is quite difficult to rent the while Suzuka circuit. But you can join the event hold by them from time to time which allow you to participate in some friendly races. For children, it will be much easier as there are a lot of activities for them all year rounds.

Both the Formula D Japan and the Japan F1 Grand Prix are hosted here.

36. Suzuka Twin Circuit

The facilities over there include but not limited to, a hotel, camping site, a park with lots of outdoor activities for children & families and another park mainly for automotive-related activities for children.

42. YZ Circuit
